Part 3X of our IWD (CULT)IVATE GREATNESS series is here - And we’re continuing with another female powerhouse, Dyan Tsiumis

She may be small in size, but she's got a HUGE personality. Her classes are so actually fun enough to get you out of bed at 5AM to go take them! She is not only the head instructor at Swerve Fitness, but she owns her own training biz in Gramercy called 'Get Fierce', and hosts Tibetan singing bowl meditations (we are DY-ing to try). Not only will she kick your ass, but she also uses powerful inspirational messages in every class to remind you of your goals, and push you to do something greater. She is everything we want in a class instructor. Take a look below to get a little taste of the life of D.

THE CC:

Q: What is your personal approach to motivation in class?

DYAN:

A: Before each class I take a moment to ground myself, to remember why I'm there and to leave all that may have happened in the day (even at 6AM) outside. I speak to what I feel in the room. I invite my students to challenge themselves, to remember how strong they are. One of my biggest language speaks in class is that when it's the MOST challenging, when you want to give up that's when you find out what you're really made of, that's when you see how strong you actually are.

THE CC:

Q: What do you think makes a kick-ass work out class?

DYAN:

A: First off, an amazing workout is SMART and SAFE, but also super fun with killer music. I also love to take classes that I wouldn't do on my own like plyo work or cardio dance classes.

THE CC:

Q: What kind of music do you like to use for class? / Favorite song right now?

DYAN:

A: I love a good hip hop beat. I like to think I'm totally gangster, which is kind of hilarious because I also love a good P!NK or Kelly Clarkson jam. My favorite song right now is Pancake by Jaded (feat. Ashnikko) Thank you for sharing Jenna Arndt, it's SO good.

THE CC:

Q: What do you think is the key to self-motivation?

DYAN:

A: You have to remember that you'll ALWAYS feel better after the workout, especially for the early "Rise and Grinders". Sometimes it can be tough, but an extra hour of sleep won't make you feel nearly as awesome as the workout will. For myself, I also remember the guilt I'll have all day if I skip the gym.

THE CC:

Q: Any guilty (food) pleasures?

DYAN:

A: Can we make this question plural? I'm competing in bodybuilding competitions in the bikini category, so my diet is pretty limited at the moment. I'm listing out my top five guilty pleasures: Caramel Corn with Peanuts (the fancy kind), Chocolate Cake with Buttercream Frosting, French Fries, Chicken Parmesan and Swedish Fish. Also note that I rarely if ever eat these things, but when I do I clap with glee!
